As entrepreneurs, we’re often so busy selling to make ends meet, the only questions we are asking are “What can I sell today?” or “How much more can I sell today?” Depending on where you are at and your cash flow situation, you might be asking, “How am I going to sell enough to make ends meet?”
In coaching my business clients, the first thing we do is star asking a different question. That question is:
“How can I be more profitable today?”
When you start to ask this question it will shift your focus away from just making sales to making profit. It will require you to look at:
- What am I selling?
- How profitable is it?
- Why am I selling it?
- Where is my time really going?
If you’re never asking these questions, you’re never going to get the answers. It’s the answers to these questions that will lead you to a more profitable business.
